The Forum at Caesars
Las Vegas NV 1992
36" high, 90" long, one of 17 similar, welded
steel wire and tubing, 10 gates, 3 colored wheels,
owned by Sweet Factory Candy Company.
The "Sweet Factory" is a chain of candy stores with locations throughout the United States. "Magic Marble Machines" were included in seventeen of the larger or more prestigious stores. The flagship store was in Las Vegas, Nevada, in The Forum at Caesars Palace. All other sculptures but one, are the same size (36" x 90") with similar complexity, sharing similar corporate elements.
Typical Examples
Each sculpture is unique. There are generic similarities, of course, but no two are identical. Virtually any size, shape, or level of complexity is possible. Most are electric motor-operated (usually 110 VAC house current). "Handcrankers" are also popular, particularly where children are present.

Here is some general information that may help you decide what you want. If you're not sure, ask me; I can probably suggest some answers that will fit your space, your design sense, and your budget.

Size (over-all dimensions),

Shape (round, square, hemispherical, etc.)

Complexity (more "gates" = more complexity)

Colored wheels, special designs and/or decorations

Ball pickup devices (most common are hooks on drive chains); other possibilities are: wheel with hooks on the outer edges, auger, belt, etc. Track designs most commonly requested: funky stairs, overbalance (like a teeter totter), spirals, wiggles/ other interesting shapes; bells and chimes; lights and/or horns; parabolic dish; catcher (ball is stopped, held, then released),"breathers", "cooling fans", meters, and other fun stuff.
